Excellent mat! I use mine without a shim for the first few cuts, then, as the mat gets cut into more, I use one metal shim below my magnetic mat. After it gets fairly worn with lots of cuts, I use two shims. When its a hot mess, I flip the magnetic mat over, and use up the other side. I think I need a 6 pack! As it stretches out from many cuts, it does get a little thinner, so the shims are necessary.
