Summer crafting is all about adding a little sparkle and shine, and today's project does exactly that! We are creating a beautiful gilded card using the Summer Sentiment and Frame Gilded Plates. It's always fun to achieve that elegant, professional foil finish right at home. What’s great is that this set includes a gorgeous decorative summer frame plate, two lovely sentiments, "Hello Sunshine" and "Warmest Wishes to You, Friend," giving you beautiful options for all kinds of handmade cards. Just your style if you love cards that glisten and shine!
Today, we're going to show you how easy it is to create a stunning gilded card using your Empress Gild and Empress Machine. Come craft along with us!
Place the Summer Frame Gilded Plate on your Empress Gild with the design facing up.
Add your foil with the color side facing down onto the plate.
Position the top plate over everything. Heat on medium for four minutes and run it through your Empress Machine.
Place your sentiment plate onto the Empress Gild. Cut a piece of gold foil and place it color side down over the sentiment.
Add the top plate. Heat on low for three minutes and run it through your Empress Machine.
Cut out both your gilded frame and sentiment. We used a diamond shape from the Concentric Shape Dies.
Diecut additional layers from Card Layer Photo Mats and Luxury Matte Foil in pink.
Attach your frame layer to a card base.
Add gold foil flourishes to create beautiful movement across the design.
Place your pink diamond layer in the center and decorate it with Mini Favorite Flowers.
Add your white sentiment layer on top. Finish with more Favorite Flowers for dimension and detail.
Now you have a gorgeous gilded card that sparkles with every angle. So pretty! There are so many ways to use these plates. Try gilding on vellum for a soft, elegant look.
Add your favorite diecuts for extra interest.
What’s great is that fabric layers also create wonderful texture and make your gilded projects even more special.

The mishap on the video where the foil was pressed above the sentiment, I would like to know why did that happen? I used one of the sentiment and each time I used it the same thing would happen. How can I avoid this so I am not wasting my cardstock. I don’t want to cover the mishap so how can you avoid it from happening. Since I tried this one sentiment and each time it happened is it a problem with the plate or the machine. I can see maybe it happening one time but four times makes me wonder. A response wold be appreciated.

Thank you for keeping the mishap in your video. It is nice to know that they can happen. I was wondering if you could use the 5X7 plates on a 5X7 card to gild the edge of a card.
I don’t have your gild. I do have a machine (TODO) that foils, die cuts, and letter presses. So another machine is not in my budget. But if you ever release just sentiments that can be used in smaller machines then I know many of us would buy them. It is nice to be able to foil your own things. Makes it more personal.
