Rose and Pineapple Gilded Hot Foil Plates- Made Easy

Hi Crafters,

Welcome to Charm School! Today, we’re adding gorgeous shine and tropical charm to our card making with the Rose and Pineapple Gilded Hot Foil Plates. What’s great is that we’re taking hot foiling one step further by using the Reverse Foil Plate to create a beautiful two-tone pineapple in green and gold.

We’re working with the Rose and Pineapple Gilded Hot Foil Plates, the Reverse Foil Plate, gold and green hot foil, Paradise Cardstock and the Empress Gild. The Empress Gild gives you a smooth, beautiful foil transfer on cardstock, paper, vellum, acetate and more. The Reverse Foil Plate lets you use the negative foil left behind from your first transfer, giving you even more creative possibilities from your favorite foil colors.

Our finished pineapple almost looks holographic with its combination of green and gold. So pretty! Pineapples are wonderful for welcome cards, best wishes, good luck and all kinds of special occasions.

For the first transfer that we are going to do uses the Paradise Cardstock Collection, the pineapple hot foil plate and gold hot foil. 

Heat the Empress Gild with the Pineapple Gilded Hot Foil Plate in place. For this size plate, use medium temperature and allow it to heat for four minutes.

Cut your gold hot foil close to the size of the pineapple plate.

Place the gold hot foil color side down on the hot foil plate.

Add your Paradise Cardstock face down over the foil.

Place the top plate over your cardstock and press the heat button.

Allow the Empress Gild to complete its heating cycle.

Run the plate system through your Empress Machine to transfer the beautiful gold pineapple design.

Place your finished piece on the included mat to cool.

Now you are ready to create the green foil that will give our pineapple its second color.

Place green hot foil color side down on the Pineapple Gilded Hot Foil Plate.

Add ivory cardstock face down over the foil.

Heat the plate completely and run it through the Empress Machine.

Peel away the foil to reveal your green pineapple transfer.

Save the leftover green foil. This negative is the secret to our two-tone design!

What's fun about our project today is that we are going to use the reverse of the transfer to add green details to our gold one. Trim around the negative foil with small scissors, cutting close to the pineapple and between the leaves.

Place the Reverse Foil Plate toward the bottom of the Empress Gild heat platform.

Line the green negative transfer up over your gold pineapple so that the two designs match.

Place the green foil color side down on the Reverse Foil Plate with your cardstock on top.

Heat the Reverse Foil Plate for four minutes.

Run everything through the Empress Machine.

Add the top plate and run through the Empress Machine.

Reveal your two-tone pineapple. Gorgeous! The green details transfer right over the gold to create an incredible layered foil effect.

Choose one of the Paradise Papers for your card base.

Add your gilded pineapple layer with double-sided adhesive, keeping that beautiful pineapple front and center.

Create a frame around the design with border stickers.

Add shell stickers from the Seaside Treasures Stickers to either side of the pineapple.

Layer shells, a sentiment and Salon Nouveau embellishments along the bottom of your frame.

Add a few more Salon Nouveau embellishments to the top of your compound embellishment.

Die cut four gold corners with the Turned Edge Dies.

Add the corners to your frame. They’re a beautiful finishing touch and a clever way to cover any wayward frame edges.

Add a rose on clear adhesive for another beautiful variation. It’s always fun to see how different embellishments completely change the look of your card. Experiment with other surfaces, too. Try transferring your foil designs to acetate, cardstock and vellum.

Create additional gilded pineapples and color the designs with watercolor markers. What’s great is that the same foil plate can give you so many different looks.

Your gorgeous gilded pineapple should remain the focal point. You spent time creating all of that beautiful shine, so embellish around it rather than covering it up. Add anything from your craft room that’s foil, shiny and gorgeous to make the finished card Just your style.
