Rectangle Pattern 3D Layer Dies- Made Easy

Hi Crafters,

There is nothing quite like taking a simple piece of cardstock and turning it into something extraordinary! This week in Charm School, we are creating a beautiful dimensional card with our Rectangle Pattern 3D Layer Dies.

This gorgeous set includes four dies with two rectangular shapes and coordinating 3D layers. What’s great is that the intricate patterns engrave, emboss and diecut all in one pass through your Empress or other die cutting machine. You can even use these dies for foil transfer to add gorgeous gilded details to your projects. It’s always fun to discover even more ways to create with your favorite dies!

For today’s project, we are using the dies a little differently to create a custom frame around our card. Hydrangea Blue Matte Foil Cardstock, matte gold cardstock, beautiful roses and a double bow make this card something truly special.

Cut the curved rectangle twice from matte gold cardstock.

Look at that gorgeous detail! One pass takes your cardstock from simple to extraordinary.

Trim the long sides from each rectangle diecut using a craft knife and ruler, scissors or a paper trimmer.

Now you have the beautiful pieces you need to create your own custom 3D frame.

Flip the pieces and adhere them around the edges of your card base.

Overlap the frame pieces where needed and trim away the excess horizontal length. You can even miter the corners if you like. 

Cut the shadow layer from Luxury Hydrangea Blue Matte Foil Cardstock.

Add the blue layer to your card with foam adhesive for beautiful dimension.

Cut the shorter rectangle from matte gold cardstock.

Such gorgeous detail!

Add the gold rectangle to the blue shadow layer to create an elegant focal point.

Add a few pretty pink embellishments from the Rose Ultimate Papercrafting Kit.

Add a Sweet Wishes sentiment to complete your message.

Finish your card with one of our beautiful blue double bows.

So pretty!

The focal point these dies create makes it easy to design everything from understated sympathy cards to colorful cards for happier occasions.
