Dragonfly and Butterfly 3D Dies- Made Easy

Welcome to Charm School! I'm so excited to share something extra fluttery and fun with you this week— our Dragonfly and Butterfly 3D Dies. These beauties are a joy to create with and will have your cards flying off your craft table!

What’s great is that you get 16 stunning dies in the set. There are butterflies in elegant poses, dragonflies in different sizes and even a gorgeous idea sheet to inspire the perfect finishing touch. These 3D dies help you add layered dimension that’s just your style.

Today, we’re working with a simple inlay technique that has such a dramatic, beautiful result. Let’s get started!

First, die cut two butterflies from iridescent cardstock. We love how it gives the look of delicate, fluttering wings— just like in nature.

Now cut the same butterflies from pink and green matte foil cardstock. Save every little scrap! These pieces are perfect for inlaying.

Take clear tape and place it on the back of your iridescent butterflies— sticky side out. This will help hold everything in place. Now the fun part, pop the colorful foil scraps back into the wings. It’s like piecing together a shiny paper puzzle!

Layer your finished inlaid butterfly on top of a second matching iridescent butterfly using foam adhesive. So pretty and dimensional.

Now let’s build your card. Start with an Antique Botanical Card for the base. Add a little sparkle with gold foil flourishes.

Next, use a shimmering frame from your 3D Decorative Layer Dies to create a beautiful centerpiece.

Place a sentiment of your choice in the center and surround it with florals and more flourishes. It’s always fun to layer!

Finally, fold the butterfly wings slightly and adhere them to your card with foam adhesive. Instant wow!

Your finished card is ready to flutter its way into someone’s heart. Whether it’s for a birthday, thank you, or just because— this is a card they’ll keep forever.
