3D Hourglass Easel Dies- Made Easy

Hi Crafters,

Are you ready to dazzle someone special with a card that’s full of sparkle and heart? This week, we’re creating an unforgettable shaker card using the Hourglass Die Set— a magical way to send love in motion! This stunning set includes a beautifully detailed hourglass die with intricate overlays, floral embellishments, shadow layers and decorative details that are just your style. Combine it with shimmering cardstock, acetate, and sequins for a card that’s fun to shake and even more fun to make!

Let’s make it together step-by-step!

Start by cutting 5 sheets of Virginia Flower Vine Green Cardstock, Luxury Matte Foil Cardstock in gold and your Empress Elite Machine (or other diecutting/embossing machine). Cut the pieces shown below.

Trim 2 pieces of acetate to 3.75" x 6". These will create a box to hold your sequins beautifully.

Create your shaker box by applying foam adhesive around one sheet of acetate. This gives your sequins room to move— so fun!

Pour in your sequins or beads, then seal with the second sheet of acetate and double sided adhesive.

Attach the hourglass shadow layer to your card base using double-sided adhesive.

Center and attach your acetate shaker box on top of the shadow layer.

Now add the gold hourglass diecut right over the top— it's already looking so elegant.

Decorate with the gold hourglass details to add depth and design.

Finish with a floral bouquet from the Antique Botanical Collection and a sweet sentiment. We used “Love You!”, but choose one that’s perfect for your occasion.

Add your stopper so the card stands at attention!

Whether you’re crafting for a birthday, anniversary or “just because,” this sparkly, elegant card is sure to make someone’s day. You’ll love the movement and magic it brings— and the joy of creating it with your own hands.

Make elegant tonal cards with your Faded Rose Papers.

What's great is that you can use the hourglass on regular cards too. You don't have to make an easel card!

If you’re not already crafting with the Hourglass Die Set, now’s the perfect time to add it to your collection. It’s available on our site—and it pairs beautifully with your favorite embellishments and sentiments!

I am going to use this hourglass die set to make Happy New Years cards as the hour glass is a symbol used so often to count down the time when the New Years begins and can pair it with the clock die set showing minutes until 12am….and with 2026 comes the 250th year anniversary of our country on July 4th so I’vecan also use this hourglass glass to count down the hours till that anniversary comes and make it patriotic themed… also I will use it for my Birthday this September when I turn 70 perhaps use it on birthday party invitations… those r just a few ideas I have for this die set… I love how versatile this die set is
