Crafter of the Week - Penny Comeau

Hello crafters,

We are continuing to celebrate National Craft Month by highlighting some of the special members of our crafting community. Today we spotlight Penny Comeau from Jarretsville, Maryland! You may recognize Penny as our resident poet from our Create events. She has a way with words and with paper! Penny is a friend to all and someone you should get to know!

Recently, Penny and husband visited Florida and met up with fellow crafters Yukari Duke and Sandy Christman! This is the 2nd magical creativity tour that they have taken.

The lovely and incredibly talented Yukari Duke.

Creativity shared -- is happiness created with Sandy Christman.

Penny shared her favorite scrapbook page of her and her mom with us.

We asked Penny a few questions for you to get to know her!
When were you first introduced to Anna Griffin?
I was first introduced to Anna in 2001 when I saw her on the Sandy Genovese Show, and was hooked when I saw her scoring and pleating paper. I continued searching for her products online and in stores and found her page kits at Michael’s.
How long have you been crafting?
I started crafting as a young child. I would cut circles out of paper and make them into chocolate chip cookies, put them on gray construction paper (which I thought looked like a cookie sheet) and “bake” them. My grandmother taught me to embroider and crochet. My father was a photographer, so I started scrapbooking when I was tiny because I had so many photos.
What is your favorite occasion to create for?
I love scrapbooking for Christmas; especially for my grandkids’ scrapbooks. There's nothing like the magic of Christmas.
How does crafting help you reach out to others?
Crafting in the Anna community has changed my life. There is nothing I like more than to take a trip and stop and see a fellow Griffinite. Crafting together with good friends is just the best. I also love to send cards and reach out that way. I almost always get a return call which is so appreciated. During Covid, I sent one card a day to people I thought could use a lift.
What is your favorite Anna Griffin product?
Hands down, the Empress was a game changer for me. Best machine ever invented in my opinion. A close second favorite product would be the event boxes. These events have become quite a social gathering place for all of us, and Anna outdoes herself with each event. I hope they continue for a long time!
Speaking of our Create events, Penny has attended in person. Here she is pictured with her Griffinite friends.

Here is a picture of Penny and Melissa Vencill. She found her through Anna and she lives only 20 minutes away!
Penny, we are honored to know you! We consider you to be a founding member of our community. We love that you have been able to meet crafters near and far, and that you have been with us since 2001. Thank you for continuing to spread love and kindness through your presence, your cards and your infinite creativity!
We are still giving away craft grab boxes all month long. Come show us the one creative thing you did or experienced today on our social media channels for your chance to win!
Love,
Anna

I have to totally agree that the EMPRESS is the absolutely BEST craft tool in the world. I had few crummy ones but when Anna gave us the BEST, I was going for the gold. I already knew the dies were the best, etc so went for the EMPRESS RIGHT AWAY. And the years have told the truth! Csnnot be beat!
