Weave a 12”x12” mat of paper strips as directed. Secure edges with adhesive.
Tear off the perforated edge and trim the sheet to 12”x12” using your craft knife and ruler. Secure edges with adhesive.
Using a pencil and ruler, mark the gold metallic cardstock at 3.5” on all four sides and score from top to bottom on all four sides.
Use double-sided adhesive on the left and right sides of the scored card stock and glue to the woven paper mat.
On the sides that are not glued, cut along the score line through both sheets up to the horizontal score line. Do this on the top and the bottom.
Fold all score lines using bone folder.
Fold to make a box, tucking in the ends inside the unglued sides. Glue the box together using a glue gun.
With adhesive tape, glue two of the strips together and slightly curve it using the bone folder to create a handle.
Add the ends of the handle in between the paper sides and glue in place. Add 2 more strips around the edge of the basket to give it a nice finished edge.
Cut and emboss 4 of the fan die cuts from the gold matte cardstock. Cut the tails on the bottom of each fan to give it a straight edge along the bottom. Adhere to each corner of the basket.
We have added some Easter grass and decorative eggs for a cute tabletop decoration, but you could do a number of different things with your woven basket. You could give a neighbor a basket of freshly baked goodies or give your grandchildren their favorite candy!
We hope that you enjoyed today’s tutorial, and that you have a very hoppy Easter!
