New Fabrics at Quilt Market

I just got back from the International Quilt Market in Houston where we debuted 6 new and exciting fabric collections with Windham Fabrics.

Whew – after 7 straight weeks of travel, the happy quilters were a blessing to me. I think the quilt industry has the friendliest and most enthusiastic buyers of all the markets we participate in!

I got to go this year for the first time in 2 years. I am usually in China at the end of October, working on new products.

I love antiques and I thought it would be fun to showcase each new collection with an antique chair that represented the essence of each group. While quilting fabric has to be backed before it can be used for upholstery, these chairs came out great!

This is the Flora Collection – it’s all antique engravings of plant life and there is even a garden plan thrown in for a geometric mix.

Fiona – the “star” collection is a fun, fabulous group based on a 1930’s French watercolor floral pattern. It’s part contemporary, part old world and a whole lot of pizazz.

Millicent – the sweetheart of the bunch, is made up of Lilacs and roses, lace, and small traditional quilting patterns in a pink/gold group, a lilac and grey group and a grey/black group.

The Aurora Collection, started out as a new interpretation of Turkey reds, but it morphed into this beautiful, traditional home decor line. What I mean by that is the scale of the patterns is so large, it will remind you of upholstery fabric instead of quilting fabric!

Darcey – our modern geometric group is all about black and white with pops of color like lime green and red. You’ll find a very contemporary statement in this group with quatrefoil & chevron patterns mixed with organic floral silhouettes.

Last, but not least is Riley – a fun, bouncing circus with crazy paisleys and candy stripes. It’s great for kids and tweens with a color scheme that is bright and happy.

Here’s a cute photo of Jackie Clark and I. Check out her great patterns by clicking here on her name.

Market wouldn’t be complete without sample spree – it was my first experience of the frenzied shopping night that so many people look forward to all year.

A football field of amazing products at wholesale prices. Yes – everyone got in on the action, designers, manufacturers and even the public came. The was no recession in this room

I am so excited. The Riley collection especially the circus pattern matches what I had in my bedroom around 1951-1955. I actually have the original fabric made into a tote bag to carry toys when I did a babysitting project as a 4-Her. I believe the fabric I used was from curtains my mother had made for my room. I can not wait until the Riley collection hits the stores. A quilt is in the making. What a wonderful surprise to make some memories for somebody else. Debbie, Maryland

    Anna,
I love your fabrics. I’m a quilter from TX, and I’d love to send you a photo of a quilt I made for my niece who also is very fond of your fabrics. She chose your fabrics for her quilt. Would you send me your email address?
