Crafter of the Week: Maria Irizarry

Crafter of the Week: Maria Irizarry

Hi friends,

We are introducing you to members of our crafting community during National Craft Month. Today we are so happy to feature Maria Irizarry in Puerto Rico! Maria is one of the most creative people we know. She said that she is honored to be featured this week, and that she has been a client of ours for as long as we have been in the business!

Maria shared that she lives in the Caribbean now, but has also lived in Ireland and Belgium; most of her family is in Spain. She has been happily married for 46 years to a wonderful man! They have 2 daughters, one granddaughter (who will be a wonderful woman who loves antiques and very beautiful places) and a four year old grandson!

Her favorite hobbies are traveling, reading, making cards, photography, fine dining and fashion! She is an interior designer with over 40 years of experience, and has remodeled 400+ years old homes. She said that interiors and antiques are a passion for her. Maria said that she likes and is involved in diplomatic relations.

1. When were you first introduced to Anna Griffin?
I have been a client for as long as she has been in the business.

2. How long have you been crafting?
As a very creative person I have been crafting since I was a child!

3. What is your favorite occasion to create for?
My favorite occasions to create all of them but, birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, Easter, Christmas has to be my absolute favorite!! Valentine is a special occasion for my loved ones and my dear friends!
4. How does crafting help you reach out to others?
I have been blessed to have all of Anna’s papers and kits and have a wonderful time sharing with my friends and family and always get a call back thanking me for such wonderful beautiful works of art! My 16 year old granddaughter asked if I could make some art to frame and her friends all of her wall art.
5. What is your favorite Anna Griffin product?
My absolute favorite has to be all of it! Her papers, the Empress, her dies, and I adore her card kits so. On a rainy weekend I have a blast and have a lot of fun watching her Finishing School and completing a kit!
Maria loves to make beautiful gift tags with our dies!
This is her favorite Christmas Wishes card that she created.
Maria loves that you can make an entire card kit during a rainy afternoon!
Here is another of her Christmas cards.
We got to meet in person last January when I was in Puerto Rico the for the EO Atlanta Chapter Retreat.
I enjoyed the Fiesta de los Reyes Magos ... Along with Christmas and New Year's, the Epiphany on January 6th is also celebrated as part of the holiday season in Puerto Rico.
We love that Maria is always cheering us on from San Juan, and we appreciate all of the beautiful and creative things that she has filled her life with!
We hope you are enjoying getting to know our crafters this month as much as we are!
Love,
Anna

It is such a treat to “meet” other crafters like Maria on a more in-depth level. Thank you, Maria, for sharing with us!

Thank you Anna for showcasing Maria and her creativeness. I really enjoy meeting people from other places and learning about their passions in creating . Maria’s live seems to have been blessed with many pleasant events in various countries! I hope Maria has scrapbooks of her places where she has lived ! She and I have several things in common! We both began crafting as children; we both began using your products probably same time; and both both love formal dinners!!!!
How fun it is to read about Maria but it is absolutely fabulous to read the post from her hubby ! ! 🥰

Words can’t express how lucky and proud I am of Maria choosing me as her lifetime companion. We are very different but at the same time very much alike. Maria’s commitment, to all things important in her life, is unquestionable. When we had the pleasure to meet Anna, and I saw both ladies’ interaction, I realized that distance, culture, language, age…mean nothing when similar interests bring the passionate side of human beings. Anna, thank you for your unique way of uniting people around the world. I love you my dear Coque!

So nice to get glimpse into another Griffinite’s life and Maria certainly radiated beauty in hers. I’m really enjoying this new segment of the blog.
